Wallingford, King County
Our Wallingford sweep price runs from $209 up to $459. Three questions settle where your chimney falls. How tall is the flue, and can the roof be walked? Is there an insert or a stove in the opening, which must come out or be worked around? And how long has soot been left to accumulate? A one-story bungalow fireplace swept last winter answers all three the easy way and is billed $209. A two-and-a-half-story box house with a basement fireplace and ten idle years answers them the hard way.

Wallingford filled in fast and late. Thomas Veith's history, written for the city's preservation program, finds home building here surged most visibly from 1906 to 1915, a few years after the booms next door in Fremont and at Green Lake. Trolley tracks reached Meridian Avenue along 45th Street in 1907. Even so, a resident who played football at Lincoln High School in 1920-21 remembered picking hazelnuts on ground where blocks of houses later stood. Wikipedia's article on the neighborhood reports 45.9 percent of its housing structures built before 1939 and speaks of 1920s-era box houses and bungalows.
Two long weather records cover Wallingford's side of Seattle. The University of Washington station (1909-1983) averaged 0.72 inch of precipitation in July against 5.65 inches in December. At Portage Bay, the gauge by Lake Union, December and November led every other month from 1972 to 1998, each above five and a half inches.
That contrast is an argument for the calendar. Soot left in a flue through a wet winter turns pasty and sour, and a chimney top is no place to work in a December southerly. Swept in July or August, the same flue is dry, the deposit brushes out as powder, and any defect the sweep reveals can be repaired while mortar still cures quickly. The fireplace is then ready on the first cold evening instead of joining a waiting list.
Every chimney sweep we do in Wallingford includes:
Smoke coming back into the room, or a smell that won't go? Book the inspection first.
Book nowThe State Fire Marshal's Office issued a heating-safety notice on September 21, 2026 that reads like a sweep's checklist. Ashes: cooled completely, into a lidded metal can that shuts tight, the container kept outdoors and away from the house. Around the hearth: a three-foot zone kept clear of children, plus a screen or glass doors. The notice counts six deaths statewide from home heating sources in the previous year. We add one habit for a house that has passed through many owners: keep the sweep report, so the next person knows when the flue was last seen clean.
Covers go down and the vacuum hose is taped into the firebox opening.
Top-down from the roof when it is safe to stand there, bottom-up with flexible rods when it is not.
Shelf, chamber and firebox floor hold what fell; all three are cleared.
Photos and notes, including anything that merits a camera inspection.

Summer. WeatherSpark's clearer season for Seattle lasts from mid-June to about October 8, roofs are dry, and you are not waiting for a slot in the October rush.
Inspect first. An unknown flue needs to be seen before it is brushed. That is a $99 plus tax visit per chimney, and when work we quote from it is accepted, the $99 is absorbed into that work.
Yes. A ban restricts burning, not maintenance, and a ban day is as good as any other to have the flue cleaned.
A $99 on-site inspection, a written quote before any work, and photos of every item we touch.
